A life in 35mm
film photography lives in its own stream of time.
There might be two photos on the same roll taken years apart. Or you develop a discovered something, and see images you don’t remember even seeing in real life, let alone photographing.
The following photos were taken between 2012 and the present, though some of the older ones were only developed recently. I didn’t appreciate most of them half as well as I should have, caught up in the adolescent compare-me-to-others type trap. But looking back, I’m eternally grateful to have these moments immortalized. A life in 35mm.

I love the softness of this picture. As the oldest of 5, I'm familiar with the uneasiness of a new baby on the way. My sister is twelve years old in this photo, and my mother is 8 or 9 months pregnant. Yet she still nurses her scraped knee, rocking her in the rocking chair. It makes me think of that type of childhood anxiety, and the moments that reassure us.

Route 33. Now approaching, now approaching.

& so she lived
& so she loved
& so she created.
